Running in Kuta now has a proper community around it. There are multiple run clubs operating in town, each with its own day, atmosphere, and starting point. As an added bonus, there are also several walk clubs now for those who prefer things a little more sociable and a little less breathless. Here's everything you need to know about this great fitness option in Kuta.

Run Clubs in Kuta, Lombok

Bara Run Club — Tuesdays, 7am

Bara Run Club runs every Tuesday morning at 7am, departing from Bara. A great way to start the week with a community of regulars. Follow @baralombok_ on Instagram for updates on routes and any schedule changes.

Soma House Run Club — Wednesdays, 7am

Soma House is a boutique hotel with one of the most beautiful recovery setups in Kuta, and they've just launched a run club to go with it. Every Wednesday at 7am, the group heads out for a relaxed 5km scenic route around Kuta before returning to Soma House for the best part: complimentary use of the sauna, pool, and cold plunge until 8:30am. It's a genuinely compelling package: a social, low-pressure run followed by proper recovery, all before the day has really started. No pressure, all paces welcome. Find them on Instagram @somahouselombok.

Milk Espresso Run Club — Thursdays, 6:30am

The Milk Run Club sets off on Thursday mornings at 6:30am. Coffee after a run is always the right call, and Milk Espresso is a solid place to do it. Check their Instagram highlights for route information and updates.

They usually run from the cafe, through town, out along the Mandalika beach and then turn when they reach the road to the Pullman Hotel. Usually, most people run and walk 5km, and a few will add a bit on at the turnaround to make it up to 7km.

Xeno Run Club — Saturdays, 7am

XenoFit Gym's run club rounds out the week on Saturday mornings at 7am. Given that Xeno is the home of Hyrox training in Kuta, expect a reasonably energetic crowd. Also, all runners are gifted a free coconut from Xeno Hub Cafe post run. Find the current details at on their Instagram.

Stride Lombok

Stride is the newest addition to Kuta's run club scene. They're positioning themselves firmly around community: two weekly runs, sunrise and sunset options, and an after-run social element with coffee or breakfast. Entry is 100,000 IDR. As they don’t have a locked date/time, follow @stride.lombok on Instagram to stay across their launch.

Walk Clubs in Kuta, Lombok

Kult Lazy Legs Walking Club — Mondays, 6:30am

Kult has just launched Kuta's newest walking club and they've done it with style. Lazy Legs sets off every Monday morning at 6:30am at island pace — which is exactly the energy you want before the week kicks off. They've also thought about the fuel: an energy ball and electro drink to start, and a protein smoothie plus 10% off breakfast when you're done. Follow @kult.lombok on Instagram for updates.

Sonak Walk Club — Fortnightly Fridays, 6am

If running isn't your thing but you'd still like to explore the area on foot with good company, the Sonak Walk Club is worth knowing about. It runs fortnightly on Friday mornings at 6am, with a different route each time. Because routes vary, it's best to contact them directly for the current details. Find them on Instagram at @so.nak.lombok.

Serambi Walk Club - Sundays, 5pm

Taking a different approach is the Serambi Walk Club. If you’re more of night owl, join them for a sunset walk around the local Kuta Beach area. I can confirm the sunsets are worth it. Like all good things, a coconut is included at the end of the walk. Serambi have loads of other events and offers, so make sure you follow them on Instagram @serambi.lombok
