We're Tania and Kieron, New Zealanders who live in Lombok, Indonesia and travel regularly across Southeast Asia. Slower Travels is where we write about travelling slowly: staying longer, moving on foot and getting to know a place properly.
Our readers are independent travellers planning weeks or months in the region. Most find us through Google while they're deciding where to stay and what to do, and they have made more than 100 bookings through our links since December 2025.

Every partnership starts with real experience
We only review what we've stayed in, used or done ourselves. Hosted stays and gifted products are always disclosed, and the verdict is always our own.
Hosted stays and experiences
We write detailed, honest reviews of places to stay and things to do. They are built to rank in search and to help travellers decide, so they keep sending readers your way long after publication.
We live in Lombok, which means we know the destinations, the context and what travellers need to know before they book. We'd love to hear from boutique hotels, villas, wellness stays, hiking and trekking operators, and cultural experiences across Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
We also write about places we've paid for ourselves. Those posts are independent and sit outside any partnership. We don't offer coverage in exchange for discounted rates.
Product reviews
We review travel products that suit the way we travel: luggage and gear, running and hiking kit, travel insurance, money tools and apps. Every review is written by us after real use on the road.
A review is worth US$200 to us, paid in product, cash or a mix of the two.
If you run an affiliate programme, we'll use your link. Commission is a welcome extra and doesn't replace the fee.
