Why We Chose Naumi Auckland Airport Hotel
We chose the Naumi Hotel because it was conveniently located near the airport, yet still has a unique personality. Have you seen how boring most airport hotels are?
When scrolling through a booking app as often as we do, all hotel rooms start to look the same. Sometimes they’re a little bigger or they have a bathtub. But Naumi Hotel actually cares about how its hotel looks.
Additionally, many hotels and motels near Auckland Airport are connected to a group shuttle service. The one bus loops around and collects everyone, rather than each hotel having its own shuttle. Naumi Hotel included the shuttle in the booking price, rather than us having to pay the $8 per person on top. I appreciate simplicity like that.
First Impressions
Check In Process
The day before we were due to arrive, I was sent an email asking me to check in. All I needed to do was click a button to confirm I was still coming. It then sent me an email with a QR code to scan at check-in. It felt like checking in for a flight, which was a novel process.
When we arrived, it was a little emotional as I was saying goodbye to my Mum. We were taking some time unloading the car and getting organised. Even though their check-in process is designed to be self-service, a staff member was kind enough to come out and check on us.
Once we’d done our goodbyes, we could properly take in the hotel. And it’s gorgeous! I’ve stayed in plenty of bland places, but Naumi Hotel has personality. Beginning with a Ganesh statue over the front door.
The staff were charming, helping us connect to the Wi-Fi so we could access the QR code and check in using the machines. She also told us about the facilities and, most importantly, the bus to the airport for the morning.
Highlights
Modern Furnishings
I’ll repeat it - Naumi Hotel has personality. If you care about having a touch of style in your hotel room, then you should consider staying here. I feel that the choice of furnishings in the room made it feel comfortable and like a place we would live.
Quiet Work Options
If you’re looking for somewhere to work for a few hours, then you’ve got great options. Naumi Hotel has a cosy lounge area where you can park up and get some serious work done. And it’s right next to the bar and restaurant to keep you fuelled up.
Bonus Perks
One of the things I loved about Naumi Hotel was how the vibe was present throughout the whole experience. Right down to their robes! Rather than plain white, these were so gorgeous and we did consider sneaking them into our luggage.
Sustainability and Quality
I hate those little bottles of shampoo that hotels give you. What a waste! Naumi Hotel instead opts for refillable glass bottles to save all that plastic going straight to landfill. Not only that, they use the gorgeous brand Antipodes. Great to see them supporting a local brand for all the toiletries.
What Could Be Better
It was pouring with rain when we arrived and we left before daybreak, so we didn’t use the facilities there. However, the gym looked great! A sauna would have been a great addition to their features.
We had the buffet dinner at the bar, and it was okay, but it wasn’t outstanding. I don’t know what we were expecting, and there wasn’t anything really wrong with it. But I just wasn’t blown away by the food.
Final Verdict
I would definitely stay at Naumi Hotel again, whenever we’re travelling through Auckland. It was close to the airport and the shuttle made the transfer process seamless.
The rooms were gorgeous, I got a bathtub to soak in before my flight, and it felt like they cared about the little things, down to the soap and robes.
I can’t wait to stay at Naumi Hotel again soon - hopefully next time in one of their other locations, like Singapore.
