Booking great accommodation is a big priority for us as it’s our largest expense as digital nomads, and it’s more than just a place to sleep. We live and work from home, so it has to be somewhere we feel comfortable and focused. But it’s not always easy. We often book places based on a few photos and vague location descriptions, unsure of what we’ll really find.
I'd like to share honest reviews of the places we’ve stayed, starting with Continew Residensi in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur (also known as Continew Residence). Hopefully, this gives you some helpful insight if you're a digital nomad looking for long-stay accommodation in KL. It’s a great place to base yourself before seeing more of Malaysia. And if you have any questions, feel free to reach out—I’m happy to share more!

Why We Chose Continew Residensi
We needed a modern apartment with good facilities, fast internet, and a comfortable working setup. Continew offered a clean, professional look in the listing, and its proximity to multiple malls and transport options made it feel practical for an extended stay in KL.
We also love a beautiful pool and a modern gym onsite. Getting motivated to go out and across town to work out just doesn’t always happen.
First Impressions
We booked an Airbnb apartment in the building. All the apartments are rented through private companies and we used Cobnb for ours. You have to speak to the security, then get your keys from the mailbox before you can access the lift and the apartments.
Highlights
Incredible Pool Area
The pool on the 8th floor is a standout. It’s surrounded by trees, making it feel lush and relaxing. There aren’t many loungers, but it wasn’t too busy during our stay. The saunas in the changing rooms are a nice extra.
Modern Furnishings
Everything is new, with clean, simple IKEA furniture and big windows. The building still feels fresh.
Quiet Coworking Space
The “reading room” is essentially a coworking space that’s underused and great for quiet work sessions.
Bonus Cats
Three street cats live around reception—two are friendly, one’s more reserved. If you like cats, it’s a charming detail.
Well-Equipped Gym
The gym is pristine and barely used. It includes multiple cardio machines, strength equipment, and a yoga room (although it was locked during our stay).
Functional Kitchen
It’s compact but has what you need, including a fridge with an ice tray—perfect for G&Ts.
Communal Spaces
There are multiple communal spaces that you can access in the towers. If you want somewhere to sit and eat a meal or have a drink, these little open spots are ideal. Again, the building was quiet so we rarely saw people in these.
What Could Be Better
Hectic Surroundings
Stepping outside means stepping into chaos: Pudu Market behind, laneways of little shops surrounding and highway ramps in front. It’s city living, complete with all the noise and traffic that come with it.
Slightly Inconvenient Location
While malls and transport are walkable, you’re not right in the heart of the city. Expect to rely on the Cochrane MRT station or Grab rides to get around.
Local shops towards the Pudu Market
A Couple of Unwanted Visitors
We spotted two large cockroaches during our stay—somehow they made it to the 36th floor. Not ideal, but also not uncommon in KL.
Final Verdict
If you’re looking for value in the city, then you’ll find it here in Continew Residensi. The apartment is comfortable, the building is well-maintained and it has excellent facilities like the gym and pool.
But if you’re looking for community vibes, this isn’t the place. We didn’t see anyone else using the co-working space, so we couldn’t strike up a conversation there.

Best time to stay
The best time to visit Kuala Lumpur is from May to July or December to February, when the weather is drier and more comfortable for exploring the city. But Kuala Lumpur is a year-round city thanks to indoor comforts (air-con cafes, malls, coworking spaces).
